LOOKING GLASS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR REVIEW AND COMPLETION OF ONLINE APPLICATION

Who will view my application?

All applications that have been successfully submitted go directly to the program hiring manager.

Why am I required to provide an email address?

You are required to provide an email address to create a personal profile which is linked to your application. We also use your email address for the purpose of sending you an automatic email responses notifying you the status of your application. We will not use your email address for any other purpose.

I do not have an active email account. Where can I set-up an email account?

If you do not currently have an email account set-up, you may sign-up for one of the following free account providers: Yahoo!, Hotmail, Gmail.

I don’t have a computer at home. Where can I apply for a Looking Glass job?

Computers are available to use at our Administration Office, located at 1790 W. 11th Ave. Suite 200 (upstairs). 

Can I save my application once I have completed it?

Yes, the application will be saved to your personal profile.  

When can I expect to hear back after applying for a Looking Glass position?

Please allow 2 – 3 weeks after submitting your application to hear back from our programs.

What are the driving requirements for a Looking Glass job?

To qualify to drive on agency business, whether in an employee’s own car or using an agency vehicle:

  • The employee should have a valid Oregon Drivers License
  • Their driving record cannot have more than 2 moving violations (example: speeding or running a red light) or at-fault accidents in a 3 year period
  • There must not be any drinking-related offenses appearing on their record in the last 3 years
  • There should be no convictions for driving while suspended

Can I submit one application for multiple Looking Glass positions? 

No. One application is required for each position.

May I apply for more than one open position at a time?

Yes. You may apply for as many open positions as you are interested. One application must be submitted for each position applied for.  

Am I required to submit a resume and cover letter with my application?

Resumes and cover letters are not required but strongly encouraged and may be requested for some positions. There is an area in the online application where you may either attach a copy of your resume/cover letter or you may insert plain text. 

Do I have a time limit for completing online applications? 

You will be sent 2 reminder emails for incomplete applications. Once the position has closed, we will no longer accept applications for that posting.

Does Looking Glass require Criminal Background Checks for all employees?

Yes - In compliance with applicable laws and licensing requirements, Looking Glass Human Resources Department conducts a background check on all new employees, non-paid staff (volunteers and interns), and existing staff as required. This is completed by the Background Check Unit with the State of Oregon per the Oregon Administrative Rules. 

I am unsure of what position(s) I would qualify for. Can I submit an application without a job title listed and you determine what I am qualified for?

No. The system will require you to select a position to apply for before you are able to complete the application.

How do I know that you have received my application?

An automatic email notification will be sent to the email address you provided on your application(s).

Where do I call to check on the status of my submitted application?

Please call the Looking Glass Administrative Office at (541) 686-2688. We will route you to the appropriate program to discuss your application.

What if I need additional space than the application provides to list previous employers?

You may attach and additional sheet in the box titled, “ENTER TEXT RESUME” in the same format in which the work experience questions are listed.

Can I substitute a resume for completion of the employment application?

No. While resumes are accepted, they should not be substituted for any portion of the application.

How do I attach additional references and contact information or letters of recommendation with my job application?

You may attach additional references, contact information, and letters of recommendation as one document in the resume section if you have them in a document that can be uploaded. You may also scan as one document and upload it into the resume section. For references and contact information only, you may type them into the resume field. If invited for an interview, you can also turn in materials at that time.
