If the answer is yes, then you might be interested in our Endowment Program. Looking Glass offers donors the opportunity to have their gifts live on through the use of an endowment fund. We also offer donors the opportunity to create their own endowment fund with gifts of $25,000 or more. We currently have two endowment funds available that are managed by the Oregon Community Foundation.
Jim Forbes came to Looking Glass in 1972 as a student volunteer hoping to help teen runaways. He retired as its Executive Director in 2004, having turned a small grassroots effort into a comprehensive nonprofit organization that goes far beyond helping runaways. During his tenure, Forbes’ vision, commitment and leadership created a unique, multi-faceted organization that today addresses a full range of youth and family issues from abuse, to homelessness, to delinquency, to addiction. Gifts to the Jim Forbes Endowment are a long-term investment in Looking Glass that helps preserve and build upon the Jim Forbes’ legacy. The Fund creates a continuing source of revenues Looking Glass can use to better the lives of children, youth and families — now and in the future. Income from the Fund is used to support client services, make facility improvements, provide seed money for new services and purchase vehicles, furnishings and equipment.
Joyce W. Slijper was a remarkable woman, an extraordinary community volunteer, and a dedicated member of the Looking Glass Board of Directors from 1990 to 1998. She was also a passionate champion of youth and families – especially for those in need of help. As a Looking Glass Board member, Joyce worked tirelessly on their behalf. She envisioned the agency having a permanent source of funds available to provide counseling services – particularly for those families with limited or no financial means. The Joyce W. Slijper
Endowment Fund fulfills Joyce's vision by creating a continuing
source of money Looking Glass can use to help provide an array of counseling
services to young people and their families.
