Volunteer Program

Many Looking Glass programs have opportunities for members of the community to volunteer on an ongoing basis in roles that supplement the program or administrative staff.  This allows our Looking Glass staff to more fully concentrate on serving our clients and contributes to the success of our services.  Opportunities that are currently available can be found by clicking on the links below for a description of the activities involved and a person to contact if you are interested.

Host Homes - Looking Glass Rural Program provides an array of services designed to promote family reconciliation and independence, for youth ages 11-17, who are in crisis, have run away, or are homeless.  These services include 24-hour crisis consultation, case management, host home shelter, service coordination, and family reconciliation. Looking Glass Host Home program is looking for positive adult role models, in the Cottage Grove/ Creswell area, to provide short-term shelter for youth (1-21 nights) in their homes. Training and support will be provided. Host homes will need to complete training for certification as well as meeting basic health and safety requirements. Fingerprinting and Criminal background checks are also required. Host homes will provide youth with safe shelter and will meet necessary daily living needs including food and transportation, while helping to meet the ultimate goal of reuniting youth and their families. If you are interested in becoming a host home or want more information, please call Lezlee Craven at 541-767-3823 or email at lezlee.craven@lookingglass.us.

Student Internship Program

Some Looking Glass programs have opportunities for university and community college students to earn college credit in a relevant academic field. The program requires an intern to be sponsored by an academic institution, such as enrollment in a vocational/technical program, or to have a declared major at the university level.

Student internships usually require a minimum commitment of one term. Interns receive professional training, which allows them to develop and refine a variety of skills through on-the-job experience. Looking Glass is able to serve more clients and provide better quality services with the assistance of our Student Interns.
