Counseling Program Spotlight

The Looking Glass Counseling Program is here to support you! All of our therapists have transitioned to working with clients via telehealth with limited in-person services. The last year has been filled with many uncertainties, which can cause high levels of stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

“Having telehealth as an option allows opportunity for flexibility and meeting every clients needs,” said Carlyn Wierda, Counseling Program Director. “Our therapists offer a variety of different therapy techniques and work together with the client to figure out what style works best for them.”

One thing that has been impacting our community is the access to Spanish resources related to mental health access. While there are mental health resources offered in Spanish, often times it can be hard to know how to get connected to these services. Looking Glass has a team of 6 bi-lingual, bi-cultural Mental Health Therapists offering services to community members who are Spanish-speaking. Additionally, our team recently hosted a webinar in Spanish to inform parents of youth about how to handle suicide prevention and awareness.

Among all of the services that our Counseling Program offers, we are partnered with Jasper Mountain and The Child Center as part of the Crisis Response Team (CRT). The CRT is available 24/7 and can directly help those experiencing mental or behavioral health crisis. Once the CRT is contacted, they will determine if there is a need to de-escalate the situation in person.

Two qualified mental health professionals will be dispatched to wherever the youth is, assess the situation, and provide resources and support to the individual and the care-taker. This service is also provided in Spanish.

If you or a loved one is in need of help from the Crisis Response Team call 1-888-989-9990.
