Looking Glass Healthy Kids Breakfast Event Brings in Money and SOCKS!

Looking Glass staff members partook in a Q&A panel at the Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures breakfast fundraiser on Oct 17,2023. The 11th annual Looking Glass Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures breakfast fundraiser was held on Tuesday, October 17th at Venue 252 in Eugene and raised crucial funds for Looking Glass programs. In addition to funds, over 5,000 pairs of socks were received to help with the October-long sock donation drive (Socktoberfest) for homeless youth!

At this year’s breakfast, guests were treated to a Q&A panel of Looking Glass leaders, facilitated by Emcees Liz Kelly and Mary Reilly. Program directors represented Counseling, Homeless Youth and Adjudicated Youth Services, Riverfront High School & Career Center and the Regional Crisis Center.

This year’s event was sponsored by several local companies including US Bank as the event title sponsor. Additional supporting sponsors were Chambers Construction; Moss Adams; OnPoint Credit Union; Timber Products Company; Twin Rivers Plumbing; B/VAL CPA’s; Hamilton Construction; Revolution Design Group; Oregon Pacific Bank; Heritage Bank; and Jeremiah Marsden.

During the event, Looking Glass debuted a video explaining a new program offering a low barrier homeless youth overnight shelter called the PEER shelter. The PEER shelter provides up to 24 beds, on-site medical services and other mental health supports.

Incoming Board Chair, Shanna Reichenberger, asked the attendees to consider stepping out of their comfort zone and giving generously to support the important work Looking Glass does with youth and families in Lane County.

Also shared at the event was a success story from a recent graduate of Riverfront High School.
