The Looking Glass residential program retreat took on a different look this year with staff members at each program wearing different colors and large, bouncy balls flying (or wobbling) around a kickball diamond as a new tradition was “kicked” off with a kickball tournament for the ages. In the end, Stepping Stone Program took home the gold (probably plastic really) trophy but fun was had by all.

This was the a brief respite during a day of nearly constant trash talking between programs as they gathered for a group photo with RCC, Stepping Stone, Pathways and PRD teams represented.

The event was held at Tugman Park and included a BBQ lunch and potluck. The championship game was won by a score of 10 to 3 with Stepping Stone beating members of team PRD.

“Organizing a kickball tournament for the staff provided a platform where everyone could come together without the daily stress of our jobs to develop those relationships and improve the overall team dynamic,” explained Looking Glass Adjudicated Youth Services Director Maleigha Myers. “It allowed people to connect around something other than the difficult situations that arise in programs and develop fond memories that they can carry with them throughout the year. My goal is to have this continue on an annual basis in order to remind all of residential (regardless of program) that we are a team and are here to support one another, and that there is always room for fun and appreciation.”
