Professionals from a variety of industries came for a visit to Riverfront School on Wednesday, January 22nd to try and help students explore possible career paths and have the opportunity to ask questions and seek out more information. Representatives from Greenhill Humane Society, Oregon Supported Living Program, Pipeworks, NuRealms Entertainment, Black Label Tattoo Collective, and an independent photographer and home health care worker were on hand. During lunch a representative from LCC Admissions available for students who wanted to learn about the admissions process.

The goal of the day was to introduce students and clients to industry professionals so that they could learn about the careers they were interested in directly from the source. Youth were polled to see what careers they were interested in and the top four were selected; Art, Healthcare, Technology, and Animal Care. Two representatives from each profession were invited which provided a diverse look at each of the industries.

“The students and clients were really engaged with the presenters and had many thoughtful questions for the panelists!” said Brianna Vincent, Riverfront Services Manager. “We received feedback from students that they enjoyed the event and learned a lot about future careers. The students and clients gained a deeper understanding about the professions they were interested in, and they came away excited and inspired which were ultimately the goals of the event.”

Thank you to all participants in the day’s program!
