OnPoint Credit Union Funds Laundry Project at New Roads

New Roads staffers, Monique and Gary, show off the two new commercial-grade washer and dryers at New Roads homeless youth drop-in center, purchased with funds from OnPoint Credit Union in late 2025.

Thanks to a couple of amazing grant gifts from OnPoint Credit Union, the New Roads homeless youth drop-in center was able to purchase two new commercial-grade washer and dryers for the clothing closet area. Laundry services are so crucial to the unhoused youth served at New Roads - most youth come in only with the clothes on their backs and all donated clothing needs to be washed before clients can use it. The previous washer and dryer was slow and made this service inefficient. This funding also supported new electrical and plumbing improvements in order to support the higher grade machines.

Local TV station KMTR came out and covered this inspiring story and the impact this gift is having on the youth we serve.

“OnPoint’s support of Looking Glass will improve the lives of homeless youth for years to come,” said Chad Westphal, Looking Glass Community Services President and CEO. “The youth accessing our drop-in centers come from sleepless nights and long days on the streets. Cleanliness is hard to come by for them and yet it is a critical component of any individual’s overall well-being. Looking Glass’ laundry services are never ending, and our clothing closet constantly needs replenishing. OnPoint’s contributions that have included a new washer and dryer set, have helped us address these needs. Thank you, OnPoint for partnering with us and the youth we serve!”

KMTR came out and covered this story publishing a nice video piece about the impact of this generous gift from OnPoint Credit Union. See that clip on KMTR’s website here.
