Looking Glass staff members Sammy Elsdon and Amanda Hampton proudly display the MLK award presented to them by Cottage Grove High School on Monday, February 5th, 2018.

Members of the Cottage Grove High School student council chose Looking Glass as this year's MLK award recipient and presented a plaque to rural program staff members Sammy Elsdon and Amanda Hampton on Monday, February 5th at their Unity Week assembly.

Looking Glass was selected for this award for representing "the work and principles the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lived by and represents - kindness, service, justice and a relentless pursuit of what is right vs. what is easy," according to Carmen Adler, Cottage Grove High School Language Arts & Leadership Teacher as well as student council advisor.

In addition to the MLK award, the high school awarded two teachers and two students with awards as well.
