Looking Glass Auction Raises Record High Donations

The annual Spring auction gala fundraiser for Looking Glass raised a record amount of revenue through corporate sponsorships, auction bids and paddle raises. By the end of the night, which celebrated Dynamic Duos with a theme that included 29 individually decorated table centerpieces, more than $175,000 had been raised for Looking Glass programs. At this year’s event there were two guests given surprise honors - first Looking Glass outgoing CEO, Craig Opperman, was informed that the Community Leadership award given annually is now named after him. Then Dan LaCoste, longtime Looking Glass board member (and chair for 6 years until this year), was given the Craig Opperman Community Leadership Award.

The evening featured live music by the Phil Baker Trio and live and silent auctions as well as a raffle item for $1,000 at the Eugene Airport. Several of the attendees came to the event dressed as their favorite Dynamic Duos of all time. And a video success story was shared from a client receiving services at the PEER shelter for homeless youth. This particular youth has his own baby girl and both have been well cared for at the shelter.

This year’s auction event chairs were George Russell and Jane Burgess. And assistance for the event came from a generous auction committee and several Looking Glass employees who volunteered their time outside of work to assist with the event. Mary Reilly and Liz Kelly emceed the event, once again (and came dressed as each other). And our wonderful auctioneer, Eric Johnson, was back to help ring in the donations.

Corporate sponsors helped ensure the evening would be profitable even before it started. Special thanks is owed to this year’s corporate sponsors: Arbor South Architecture, PC; B\VAL CPA's; Chambers Construction; Dari-mart; George Russell & Associates; Goldworks Jewelers; Hamilton Construction; Heritage Bank NW; Hyland Construction; KPD Insurance; Magyar Property Management; McKenzie River Broadcasting; Oakway Center; Olsson Electric; OnPoint Credit Union; PacificSource Health Plans; PeaceHealth; Revolution Design Group; Summit Bank; The Commerce Company; Timber Products Company; Trillium; Twin Rivers Plumbing; Umpqua Bank; Washington Federal Bank; Wildish; Windermere Real Estate.
