Riverfront School Receives High Praise And 5-Year Accreditation

Riverfront School Special Education Coordinator, Suzanne Armstrong, works with a student at the school on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Cognia, a national school accreditation organization, recently reviewed and awarded Looking Glass Riverfront School with another 5-year accreditation status along with some very positive feedback from their reviewers as well as Riverfront students and parents who were interviewed during the process.

This year’s review process was completed via phone and Zoom due to Covid challenges.  This every-five-year process involves several days of in-person observations, interviews, and rigorous evaluation of the whole school – the program, the cultural context, and the community of stakeholders – to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of learners.

The most powerful themes that emerged from this year’s review included the school’s strong leadership, the equitable and inclusive academic environment, student’s positive relationships with peers and adults, and systematic longitudinal data collection and analysis.

Riverfront’s success is expressed in the following comments.

“Evidence of positive relationships is seen by the engagement of learners in small groups giving and receiving collaborative encouragement from each other and the teacher.  With small class sizes, teacher are able to give one-on-one instruction and support as needed to ensure students will be successful, which builds partnership in learning between them”. – Cognia Reviewer

“My teachers believe in me.  They motivate me.  They inspire me”. – Student

“The teachers give so much of themselves for these children”. – Parent

“The tremendous effort and commitment Riverfront teachers have made to our student’s education and personal growth is reflected in this outstanding evaluation” – Cheryl E. Zwillinger, Program Director
