The Lane-Metro Youth Corps, operated by Looking Glass, is recruiting applicants, ages 16 to 21, for the position of Crew Member this summer. Crew members remove invasive species, collect native seeds, plant native species, build small structures, remove fences, and assist in the renovation and maintenance of park sites.

Potential crew members must be able to work in a group of young adults of varied backgrounds. This paid work experience provides 32 hours per week from June 20 to August 19 and pays $13.50 per hour. School credit is also available.

In addition to receiving a paycheck, the youth who participate in the summer crew program have the chance to learn about the local ecology, bond with their co-workers, and earn credit toward their high school diploma.

“The highlight of the summer for me has been getting to know my co-workers more and helping my community at the same time,” explained Haley, age 16 and a 2nd year summer crew member on the 2021 crew team. “It’s like getting a second family. We really connected last year and promised each other we would come back.”
